  • Some nice shots, what lens you using?

  • Thank you. It's a voigtlander 35mm 2.5 color skopar. The best thing I could afford at the time. Can't complain.

  • Love these. I always love the random results in a double exposure.

  • Lovely esp the the bottom one.

  • Leica M2 with a combination of Superia 400/Portra 400/Ultramax 400

    really like the last two!

  • XA on Superia 400

    amazing.. such lovely light 🥰

  • More of the same combo, XA and Superia 400.

  • Your XA shots are awesome. The detail and sharpness on these are perfect.

  • Seconded

  • Cheers, not the intended results. But an interesting learning curve.

Ps can anyone recommend a roll or film for me to use while I go on a ski trip to Chamonix in 2 weeks time? Its going to be bright due to all the snow I'm assuming so what film would be best to use. Will be shooting with a Konica big mini or a Olympus om20, most likely the more compact Konica.

  • Kodak Pro Image 100

  • I love Portra 400 for everything.

  • Over-expose at least a stop in bright (snow) conditions

  • I think I'll be taking the big mini which is a fully compact 35mm with not much freedom when it comes to manual use. That's why I was asking for recommendations for film. But it I take my manual camera I'll keep that in mind. Cheers

  • Amazing (both sets) - so atmospheric, and seem incredibly sharp for a compact

  • Looking online you should be able to +1.5 with the Konica? Or hack the DX code on the film, but that will obvs change it for the whole roll.

  • Didn't know it was possible to do either of them with the camera. The DX code won't be an issue as I'd plan to use the whole role when I'm away.
I'll give it a Google. Nice one 🙂

  • More XA from LA.

  • Can anyone recommend a website to pick up some Portra? 400 preferably? Haven't shot film for a couple of years so have sort of forgotten where to look.

Most places on google are either out of stock, or only have a 5-pack.

  • if you are in london rapid eye, aperture, mr cad has stock

if not speedgraphic or bristol camera decent price

  • I need to up my 35mm scanning game. Anyone have experience of Plustek, Reflecta/Primefilm or both?

My ageing Epson V500 needs replacing. I don’t own a digital camera and don’t really want to.

  • I have this Plustek one.
Given that you get SilverFast SE 8 with it the price is pretty good.
The scan quality is very nice if you know what you're doing (turn the right knobs in SF, use multi-pass etc.).
I suggest you make sure the software runs on your operating system - the version I got didn't run on Catalina, and I worked around it by installing Windows 7 via Parallels Desktop; this worked fine.. but in the end I couldn't be arsed to scan myself anymore.

So long sory short make shure you really want / need to scan yourself, personally I do prefer to spend a few bucks to have it done for me at the lab with a Frontier that gives even better results of course, and have them send me the files via WeTransfer a couple hours later.
It's totally worth the money, YMMV of course.

  • I can sell you a Minolta cheap
