Good to know I'm not the only one to have this problem. Now that I've got the wheels on it, discs fitted etc I should be able to work out how much needs to come off to make it work

Hard to tell from the photos, but are you trying to use a post-mount caliper on a flat mount frame with an adaptor, thus would solve all problems buy purchasing a new caliper...?

It’s a lovely build. The grey colour and red highlights made my brain think of Robocop
Any chance you could take a close up pic of the seat-cluster? The Way the stays are welded on the side. I’d like my local frame guy to replicate something just like that.

Every time I look at that RIH I have a terrible urge get on Marktplaats and spend unreasonable amounts of money to get one.
And the new bike is looking lush too! -

Er yes- that’s basically it.
The main reason for my stubbornness is that I got a good deal on the Hy/Rd brakes and had the 160mm post mount adaptors in my parts bin
I went for flat mount on the frame/forks for futureproofing … -

Thanks I’m pleased with the overall look
Will grab a photo during daylight tomorrow

Thanks, I’ve fallen for the Rih over the winter, done some pretty big rides, gravel, rough stuff and road, 2000km since November it’s a great winter bike

Ahhh, makes sense. I saw the mechanical levers but didn't register that the calipers were Hy/Rd.
I've run mechanical flat mount spyres with sram levers and they've been decent enough. They're also not too expensive.

Future proof but not present proof... Looking great though, I wasn't sure about the colour initially but it looks loads better built up for some reason.

Welds are industrial rather than crafted but the design is neat

Shaping up nicely, all these snags will be forgotten about as soon as you put some miles on it!

Might be a smarter move just to sell the HyRd and get flat mount Spyres ....
I ran into a mate out on the road this morning who'd had the same problem on his Space Chicken. He'd solved it by keeping the HyRd on the front and running a flat Spyre on the back.
The trouble I've got is that my calipers are green and I'm keen to keep things matchy.... -

Future proof but not present proof...
well put!
I'm really happy with the colour, I'd worried it might look a bit too institutional and dull so I'm quite relieved - I think the gloss and quality of the powder coat helps. Pretty pleased with the wet-spray colour match too, it was just a rattle can of 2k from ebay -

@Maj thanks so much - loving your cross check too
@Biggles567 - Cheers - so impressed with the pink (and loving the blue anodised details)
@Tijmen - Absolutely. will try and sort the brakes tomorrow and should be riding it within a week -

Good point - I've been meaning to take some - will post a few from this morning.

I couldn't get the post mount adaptor to work on the chainstay flat mount so I got some hy-rd knock-offs from aliexpress - but they go quite nicely with the overall look of the bike

I've needed to take a file to a couple of different calipers on bikes for the same reason...
