Yes I'd like it gone fairly quickly, otherwise I'd offer someone the option of doing the work at my garage (if possible). But I want to be done with the garage so just moving it on asap at this point

The red fuel bottles. There was a spot under the seat one would have fitted perfectly.
The cool factor was also a consideration. Size wasn't because for London commuting you don't need to get that far.
Idk why I didn't do it in the end. Probably my OH saying something like "can't you just fucking remember to fill up?"

Weight! The problem with a lot of modern litre bikes is dry weight. They produce amazing power but they are not as light as a 250cc 2 stroke. The 2 Stroke runs out of performance earlier but the lighter package makes it lots of fun all the time you're cornering and racing between corners.
A great new era for m/bikes would be electric without the weight. Physics is a bitch though.
Other thing worth remembering is motorbiking is not only about dry days and track days. A 500cc bike is plenty fast enough screaming across the countryside in the middle of the night in winter when every element is trying to kill you.

What I'm trying to say is the best power to weight ratio available may still be too much weight for a m/bike to be really brilliant.

I do think that the car I have driven to the limits of its chassis and drivetrain the most was the Yamaha 1.25 engined Fiesta from the late 90’s. In my memory it was an absolute riot- loved to rev, cornered hard but when you ran out of grip it was benign. And it was big enough for me to fit into comfortably.

Best thing is ride and own a lot of bikes and very slowly customise something to suit you.

Me too. Years ago Eddie Laycock took a GP 500 on the North West circuit here - it was amazing. No good for racing though as the roads shredded the tyres - he had to pull in when the tyre gave up. I can’t remember how many laps he got it but I guess one and a half!!

This might not be popular, but I’d say more important questions to answer that would allow people to make more of a concrete idea at what you prefer in a bike would be, to a degree
How tall are you?
Where do you want to ride? Type of road or terrain.
How flexible are you?
How long do you want to ride for in a single day?
How do you feel about wind noise?
Do you like the power hit or to ride the revs?I surmise from your past/current car ownership and seeing your engine project come along that you tend to reside on the torque front. Use that to make decisions.
I’d hazard a guess and say you’re old and versed enough to disregard lust for logic. Then again, I’ve read your whole fucking MTB thread, so what do I know.
Also, black bikes are faster.
