I can tell you that it's actually a cosmetically similar variant of vantablack, and isn't particularly fragile.
In person, the watch simply looks like it has a black dial. The crystal diminishes any special effect you might perceive quite a lot anyway.
I'd say it's a gimmick. Just like with the other brands that did it already.
Yeah, I'm a fan. I read that the Vantablack coating is incredibly delicate and easily ruined - basically you can't touch it. So no idea how you can service the watch. Presume it's a new dial every time.
