Cheers for the offer but I'm up in North London so not that near. I'm not in any real rush but just want to get the right tool in advance rather than forgetting about it until I need to take the pedal off.

Cheers @c4shr do you know if that one fits. The socket I had at home was too thick from what I remember.

Exact fit and was flush when I was removing pedals on the Brompton with the older pedal nut (newer models will have the hex nut which I would recommend, but if you have the socket...). Think it was a couple of quid in that famous diy store with orange logo. You need a 1/2 inch drive though.
