  • Da7400 is mid nineties at best and thus doesn’t belong. Sorry. 7700 or nothing.

  • I know it all about personal comfort, but saddle fully forward, and ergo extended i can imagine you on the attack when riding this thing !

  • I'd say one of the main traits of these 2K bikes would be alloy frames and carbon (rear) forks, or lugged carbon frames. Monocoque frames would be pushing the genre except if ex pro frame.

This bad boy was identical to the T-Mobile frameset, just with different paint... Came out in Oz in '06 with full 7800 and Ksyrium ES, was 7.1kg and cost $8.5k. You could get the frameset in Europe with pretty much the same paintjob but with T-Mobile on the top tube instead of this poxy Arial font junk, that was €2.5k...

This one is a bit on the large side for me, but I picked it up a few years ago for $600; was just gonna strip and flip it, but it's such a weapon. These days it's Di2 only, with a full internal loom I DIYed, and 9000 except for the nicer 9100 levers and way cooler 7400 rear brake, comes in at 6.1kg with the Caden tubs. Oh yeah, I sold the 7800 off it for $560, lol.

Been looking for one in my size pretty much since I got this, and late last year found one out in the sticks for $1k, in incredible nick. Reckon I could get $800 for that group - no crank scuffs or RD road rash! Although now I've gotta do this Di2 hack job all over again.

Looking forward to it though; gonna be a tad lighter and a whole lot sexier in my size.

  • I have an identical-era TCR2 owned since new (£1k, 2006) which I still use as my main road bike. I continue to entertain dreams of finding the ISP version in my size (L, bb–rails distance tbc...), as it's what I really wanted at the time. I've got the period Ksyrium ESs in a bag somewhere still too.

  • If it makes you feel any better, the 27.2 has a smoother ride than the ISP.

And the ISP really needs an integrated bar/stem to fully pop, but I'm married to the Aeronova shape, and the only integrated Aeronova is a knock-off so nasty it's almost basically junk - I know, I bought one :(

  • That is just superb. Top marks.

  • This is lovely - the old and new dura ace look a treat, hope you give the modern bikes a beating with this, nearly 20 years old and still lightweight looking good 😎
