I never knew about them then got investigated and fined for not declaring something on a P11d from 5 years before at a previous job. I ask every year now just in case - never had one since. Since there was nothing different about that year I reckon the first was their error not mine, but no way to prove it since I have no idea what the declared value referred to.

Fair enough.
I get a lot of requests for P11ds in self assessment season and 95% don't actually have one.
