I am talking about ironing folds in specifically. (But I don't iron jeans either because denim doesn't really crease very easily, so not sure why they'd ever need to be ironed). When you iron a turn up, it creates a weird artificial turn up. It is as if your jeans have been sat there for months with weight applied to the fold up and it doesn't sit naturally IMO. I can't really describe what I mean, but when you wear them, it's like your turn up has a brace across them that makes them sit straight across your shoe, instead of in a circle around your shoe? Not sure if that makes sense.
@sacredhart - obviously just my opinion, but my folds have got smaller and smaller and smaller over the years. I opt for a more drastic hem now with a smaller fold. Previously I'd have them shortened to like 30/31" and have a decent size turn up but now I hem to 29" and have a tiny one.

How come no iron?
I thought I remember reading somewhere it makes them softer.
