Do not iron. Turn up if you like the look or if they are too long. I always rinse new jeans (if unsanforized) to remove any potential shrinkage. If sanforized, I'll still rinse them, just to make them softer and remove any factory starch and thus they'll be comfier.

I’ve had a similar journey to @JB and now mostly have no turnup and get my jeans finished to the length I’d like to wear them. I also found that having turnups created just extra wear/dirt/creases/fades etc
I’d rinse them before wearing and before any alterations.

I have some Edwin rainbow selvedge jeans.
I guess the done thing is to turn them up to show the rainbow?
Should I iron this or just loosely turn up?
Also, they are black jeans, should I rinse them before.wearing to minimise the color rubbing onto other fabrics?
