Oh very close, we're just north of Bancrofts actually.

I dont think there is a shortage of teachers in cliché interior design

No? How comes you’re struggling with it so much then? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

The big old detached place ? Lot of house for the money.

I was up in my loft yesterday (about lunchtime maybe) and noticed that a lot of the membrane on the north facing part was damp with drops of water on it. There's been no rain recently so I assume it's condensation. Standard Victorian terrace.
Is this a bad thing or to be expected? There's a few vents and air bricks up there but not sure how many there should be. Loft insulation was done about 10 years ago and about 200mm down so far as I can see.

bit unusual, my victorian terrace attic is dry as a bone, draughty AF though so maybe yours is better insulated and sealed.
If you've got a dehumidifier you could run it through dry weather to confirm its a humidity issue

There is always going to be warm, humid air leaking into your loft space at this time of year the membrane will be cold, especially on a north facing elevation do when the warm air comes into contact with it condensation will form and is nothing to worry about. This is part of the reason why modern roofing membranes such as tyvek are breathable, but as any cyclist can tell you, breathable fabric doesn't stop moisture build up inside it, it just slows the build up somewhat.

Cheers. I'll just keep an eye on it for the moment. Never noticed anything under heavy rain so hopefully not a leak.

If it's been cold but very little wind, the vents won't have been removing much of the warn moist air that's risen into the loft. Check back after a slightly warmer, breezy day.
If you have an extractor fan ducted through the loft, check the ducting is still attached.
Could you seal the loft hatch better?
Are there any other holes through the ceiling that allow heat/moisture to flow into the loft? -

Are Shark vacuum cleaners still rated on here? They've got a sale on, and ours is a pile of shit Beko that struggles to get rid of cat hair - or frankly, anything - off the carpet, despite being marketed as a pet hair specific model.
Otherwise, what vacuum around the £200 should I get?

Miele C1 gets my vote.
Ours has lasted at least 5 years now without any issues whatsoever. -
• #50841
The MiL has one, an xl, I believe. It’s very good picking up dog hair etc but it weighs a ton, which is noticeable when using it, if that bothers you
-
• #50842
Not that fussed about weight. Ideally I think a bagless one would suit us better, feel guilty about the extra landfill from disposable bags in cleaners
-
• #50843
We have a Shark and a dog. It’s awesome.

Miele blizzard cx1 cat & dog.
Bagless, very strong, heavy.
The brush thing actually gets cat hair out of the rugs. -

Our shark was a bit rubbish. After a year of frustration it was returned and replaced with a Miele which kicks the shit out of it.. the first few vaccuums through of the house it picked up about 4 times as much dust as the shark ever had.

Edit: wrong thread

Builder issues. House butting on to our brick shed had a load of work done. Builders clamber all over our brick built shed roof cracking numerous slates. They’ve replaced the obviously broken ones at the top but have ignored all the others they’ve cracked . Neighbour is trying to remedy things but builder reckons it’s all done and fixed now - fucker.
-
• #50848
Keep applying pressure to neighbour until it's fixed. Make it clear what has to happen, be as specific as possible, send a marked up diagram etc. Don't let neighbour fob you off ("Oh, the builder reckons its fixed and I don't want to be difficult..."), he is accountable for sorting it out.

What is it with estate agents?
viewing booked on saturday, only my partner can attend as i’m letting our buyer do a measure up, already moved it once and she’s travelling down.i live 3 min the property i want to view and it’s highly likely we will make an offer, agent says they have no appointments free, she is off for a week and can do the following week.
partners sale is going through and buyer pushing for a move date, property I want to view is chain free so we are a decent proposition, why would you not make the effort to facilitate a viewing for your client?
