I get that safety is a big part:
But I think convention and lack of imagination is a huge part. For eg if EVs don't need gears then why is there still a space for the transmission tunnel? For ICE cars, if they're all autos and getting jacked up for visibility but don't need ground clearance, why is the transmission tunnel so elevated?
