  • Wut. I'm a bit crap at reading but Walter Benjamin is actually readable. Definitely haven't tried those other people.

  • To be fair I'm actually quite surprised that no people smugglers have cottoned onto the fact that a shuttle service to / from Jersey or Guernsey would be much more efficient with less risk

The local plod even has a great theme tune.

  • Hazel oconnor has had a serious medical episode.

  • Solid work by the heckler on Newsnight in the live link to Andrew Bridgen just now

  • Difficult to draw on the worst in a cast of hundreds but Andrew Bridgen is a solid nomination, the longevity and astonishing year on year, out of this world consistency of a Messi or Ronaldo always meaning he’s got a chance of getting on the podium.

His Wikipedia page is quite the read https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Bridgen

Leftie BBC fail to point out they are nutters.

The problem is that you can't even take a shit on Jersey without somebody knowing. The channel Islands and secrecy do not mix.

Have you see the c4 clip about those guys? I watched it expecting to find it funny but it's heartbreaking. You get a real sense of the source of their utter distrust in authority.

  • Fucking hell what a bunch of cretins

  • It is very sad. It looks to me like a lot of people who have suffered some sort of trauma in their life struggling for meaning.

I think the connectivity of the modern world facilitates this. While there has always been alienated and damaged people, they probably couldn’t find one another and latch onto conspiracy theories / alternative realities in this way before now.

There are no easy answers to this and it is a common problem across all modern societies. I don’t know how we get back to a commonly accepted reality. #parklife

  • Alpha Men

  • Have you see the c4 clip about those guys?

Just watched it. They are nutters.

  • Alpha Men

That they feel the need for the label like this indicates there is something missing. Sad.

  • As I understand it, there are the Alpha Women and Alpha Kids too.

Maybe they are nutters and cretins, which of course some of them will be. But as @revenant. suggests, there is a strong hint of trauma in those people.

  • There doesn't need to be any secrecy though get them there and let the people you're fleecing deal with asylum claims etc.

  • strong hint of the stupids

They did a pretty good job at hiding the institutional child abuse going on in Jersey.

  • Now that Boris has categorically denied that he was warned about the drinks party what odds will people give me that an email chain will shortly be leaked to the press?

  • My thoughts too. Its an oaf blundering into an obvious one

    /csb warning.

I once had a business lunch with an investor in Jersey and 24 hours later he was being questioned about what we had discussed (and whether we were playing by the rules) by somebody from the government. Turns out that somebody at a table a few meters away had overheard our discussion and it went straight back to the Finance Minister's office.

It does not suprise me that the government itself can cover stuff up!

  • Massive elephant trap, must be

  • Leaked next week to coincide with the Greywash report

  • Now that Boris has categorically denied that he was warned about the drinks party what odds will people give me that an email chain will shortly be leaked to the press?

I would assume they will wait for Starmer to get him go on the record at PMQs tomorrow and then release the e-mails. But I would assume he'll be told to say he can't remember being being warned.

  • Surely even Boris couldn't walk into this elephant trap? They must be satisfied there is no document trail. More likely is Cummings is trying to bounce the inquiry into asking these questions, and hoping the PPS and others questioned will feel an obligation to answer truthfully.
