Four years ago, yesterday to be precise. Which is probably why it popped up in a news feed somewhere.

RIP Rachel Nagy of the Detroit Cobras. 37 yo, no cause of death in the statement. Saw them in 2019 and thought she looked a little worse for wear, Amy Winehouse vibes.

That is too bad, such a power behind the mic.

Saw them live a couple of times, great gigs.

Probably the greatest amplifier builder ever. His amps are absolutely legendary and command silly amounts of money.

37 yo
Very sad, though I'm struggling with this a little.

Oh I dunno, a similar lifespan and span of creative output to Mozart, who was composing by 5 and decomposing by 35.

Yeah she def looked much older to me but several magazines said 37.

My wife and I were discussing this as well - Nagy performing at what, 9?

Meatloaf
My mum often had to play the peaceful sounds of Meatloaf to get me to sleep as a toddler. My mum also had Bat out of Hell played at her funeral. RIP Meatloaf.

Gonna format my tribute in the Meat Loaf style (which means a long explanatory outro in brackets, like this).

RIP Meat Loaf
I realised that this hit me harder than say Bowie (who's music I seem to have a more intellectual connection to).

I can somewhat relate, though for me it was the death of Anthony Bourdain. That, for some reason, hit surprisingly hard.

RIP MEAT LOAF
It seems odd to me, as an older person, that no one has suggested that they are going to do a Meat Loaf evening. Plenty other deceased people have been prescribed this. So, in the spirit of equality, I’m doing the Meat Loaf evening - a celebration of pure operatic rock. Really, from my youth, an absolute celebration of rock. It still brings the goose bumps up from that time in my life.
Without going into detail, I’m a punk, I will always be a punk, but Meat was a different type of music - he encompasses all (at the time). And he ROCKS!I’ve lost almost all of my musical heroes (I struggle to think about who is left) and Meat was there and now is gone.
RIP Meat! Your like will NEVER be seen or heard from again.
