To be fair I'm actually quite surprised that no people smugglers have cottoned onto the fact that a shuttle service to / from Jersey or Guernsey would be much more efficient with less risk

The problem is that you can't even take a shit on Jersey without somebody knowing. The channel Islands and secrecy do not mix.

There doesn't need to be any secrecy though get them there and let the people you're fleecing deal with asylum claims etc.
