• Challenge for me is not getting to weight but that crucial few months after of getting it to stick. So I suppose that maintaining weight process is the real goal.

    There is an argument (I will try and find sources in due course) suggesting that this is related to being either side of an 'physiologically ideal' weight, but that 'physiologically ideal' weight not correlating to the 'ideal' weight that can be calculated online/ the desired weight (or more likely) look that an individual wants to acheive.

    The data in the background is related to injury propensity and illness propensity of the underweight (to physiological ideal) or underpadded. Add to that the complexity of seasonal variance, and of maintenance itself, and I don't think many people have a flat-line period on weight graphs.

    However, if you were to look at your friends, many of whom probably don't obsess to the same level, I suspect they maintain an adequate (but not necessarily desirable to yourself) physique with seemingly no adherence to a regime, and often mind-bogglingly unhealthy lifestyle choices.
