I wouldn't worry too much if it's nearly new. All motors / batteries are warrantied for 120,000 miles / 8 years and the Model 3 reached the UK in late 2019 so 6 years left on that.
Best way to check health is to use teslafi but the previous owner has to have logged mileage with it already. You can also just charge to 100% and check estimated range on the screen but that's a less scientific way of looking at capacity.

The used Tesla’s I’ve been looking at are all sub 20k on odometer so I’d hope battery condition would be pretty good with such low mileage. Again I have no idea what I’m talking about!..

I really wouldn’t worry about battery. They’re shown to hold up really well even on 150k+ cars in the US.
The main concern now is the value of used teslas. They’re ridiculous vs just buying new.

Did the Tesla test drive today. After driving a 10 year old BMW for the last 6 years I was absolutely amazed! Such a nice car to drive, the guy put it in “chill” mode as it was the performance version. Still insane acceleration from what I’m used to.
Now to decide what to do. I absolutely want to go electric and Tesla comes out on top for me specifically around the range, build quality, general UX of software, and the lack of value depreciation (although I would plan to keep this car for 3-4 years so maybe irrelevant).
I have literally no clue about car finance so need to dig into that a little more.

Where does Tesla still lead over Polestar?
-
• #532
When I chose, it was price and charging network.
-
• #533
Buying an EV but only keeping it for 3-4 years seems counterintuitive to the green aspect of it
-
• #535
charging network
Tesla has this over everyone else.
But that's about it. Because build quality, safety, and so many other things are bested by almost every other brand. So it's mostly the charging network.
That's not a small thing though, the charging network is a huge thing.

I thought Tesla were opening their charging network to other EV companies?

Anyone got experience of electric mopeds / motor bikes? What is a good commuting option?

The Source London app has been so borked since the user migration last year.
Now it won't even open on my phone.
So annoying.

Have had the ID3 for a few months now, and think the design of the A & B pillars make the car borderline unsafe to drive. They effectively create huge blindspots that make pulling out of any junction, a nerve wracking experience.. I am seriously thinking about swapping into a different car

Likewise, the BP Pulse near me has been out of service for about 4 months now.
With Source and BP both effectively out of action, the closest I've got is char.gy about 3/4 of a mile away and very expensive to use at 33p/kWh.
My target cost is always below 25p/kWh.

Isn't domestic electricity heading very close to that, or will be in April when the price cap changes?

Model 3 LR ordered. Fingers crossed it’ll be on the March delivery.
There are some proper funny people on Tesla forums who follow shipments to try and figure out delivery dates, I’m going to be one of them now.
-
• #543
You mean Mr Miserable on the TMC forums?
Yeah, it’s odd but also interesting.
Congrats on the order, you’ll love it. Don’t forget to get a charger installed asap as the OLEV grant ends at the end of March.
-
• #544
Yeah that’s the guy. Interesting for sure!
I’ve not really looked into chargers yet as we have 4 opposite our house but we definitely want one. Did you get something generic for the Tesla and Zoe (I think you have a Zoe as well).
-
• #545
I have two EO minis.
Would highly recommend a tethered charger for a Tesla due to the recommendation that they remain plugged in at all times.
-
• #546
I like the look of the model Y but there were a few things from the car wow review which bugged me about it. Heads up display was definitely one forgot the rest

• #547
I’m trying to convince my wife that getting a Taycan cross turismo is a good idea
-
• #548
due to the recommendation that they remain plugged in at all times.

-
• #549
you just need a really long cable
-
• #550
@Tenderloin I don’t really know anything about EVs but isn’t the Taycan a bit shite for range given the money you’re spending?
I also can’t handle big they look (even though it’s marginal compared to a model 3 no doubt)
Standard range in white currently delivering in March too...
Their estimated delivery windows in the UK are actually pretty solid as ships / transit are booked months in advance.
