I had a similar thought earlier! Just have to watch him because he makes short work of the bottle…

How am I supposed to work and stop a 4m old puppy from wreaking havoc?
I've no idea...I took a month off when we got Otto!

I don't want to jinx is but today's actually panning out pretty well.
Intense bursts of energy expenditure. Food. Toilet. Nap. Rinse. Repeat.
Having said that, I've got really important calls at 3pm and 4pm so there's massive scope for the day to go down the pan. -

Eight glorious, exasperating, rewarding days with John and then yesterday he was whisked off to rural Sussex. Feels a bit sad but ultimately really good!
I’ll stop hijacking the thread for a bit now people.

Bye John! What a lad - would have been really tempted to offer John a home myself, had I not already had one daft boy already.

• #4157
You did great work for that little lad. COnsidering another one or are you planning to have a quiet few weeks before you foster again?

Cheers. I'm going to have a bit of time off to clean the house and actually see people. He was unvaccinated, which meant I couldn't take him anywhere (even out for walks) and I didn't like to leave him for more than ~1hour at a time because he is a boisterous puppy who loved the company. This meant I had a week of reclusiveness at a time when I'm already feeling quite isolated (partner recently moved out).
The dog offered me some company at a time when I needed it but it was a bit counter-productive.
I imagine I'll go again with a slightly older dog that I can fit into daily life a bit more easily. -

Oh man I hadn't realised he wasn't vaccinated. That must've been a nightmare. If / when you get a nicely socialised hound you can take to the park it'll be a very different experience. Some weeks the only people I talk to in the daytime are the people I meet walking the dog.

There will shortly be a motion at your front door.

@lowbrows how are you coping? Thinking of you.

Thanks @skinny.
TBH, it varies. But the constant is a sense of emptiness in the house. But I've been spending time with Hobbes (parents' dog), and he makes most things good when he's around. It was interesting watching his reaction over the past few weeks. Initially he'd just look for Calvin when we went around to theirs, and then he turned into the most cuddly dog, (he normally just wants a pat/ play/scritch), and instead wouldn't leave Mrs 'brows side.
It still sort of hurts to go for a walk with Hobbes though. The two of them were perfect together.A big thank you has to go to @Quincy for being very generous with their time during their fostership of John.
And in general- this thread has been a big solace for me.On a much lighter note.
Someone changed their minds or couldn't take one of his breeder's most recent litter, so we may have a new dog incoming. TBC, as always. -

Glad to hear things are improving, and the prospect of a new addition is something you're considering.

Baby Pippa-Rose has been home for 5 weeks now and Omar been great so far at home and out and about. He's actually improved on the lead walking closely next to the buggy and not switching left to right like he used to so i think he's fully accepted her as one of the pack now 🤞

I think my girlfriend has a new one of these kicking about somewhere if you're interested? Our boys are too big to fit, although it was never purchased with my husky in mind

Dog sitting Hobbes today. Poor guy keeps searching for Calvin.
He’s a great dog though, a complete loon at 3 years old.
We’ve been working on marked retrieves today.

In other news, someone changed their mind about getting a dog, so this lovely creature will be ours at the end of next week.
Hobbes’ relation of some sort.

Best news of my week, the little sod will grow into those ears by the time they've eaten your house.

We lost out 15 year old gsd cross a few years ago and whenever we went to work we’d leave the radio on. For about 3 weeks after she died I kept leaving the radio on. No idea why.
Yes this is what I did in the end. Now he’s dead to the world
