It's not clear from the article where this took place, but it seems to have been on Chessington Road between the junctions of Hook Lane (the article erroneously says 'Horton Lane', which doesn't have a junction with Chessington Road) and Ruxley Lane, in the northbound carriageway (the layout here is unusual in that the north- and southbound carriageways are separated by a tall hedge on a wide central reservation and feel like two separate one-way streets).
RIP rider.

This follow-up article suggests, perhaps on scant evidence, that the scene of the crash may have been near the Chessington Close bus stop, here:
https://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/gallery/ewell-crash-flowers-left-scene-22431918
It's possible that the rider was hit when trying to cross the street here on the crossing or was hit from behind.
It's a sad scene to see the solitary bouquet of flowers there, and the article doesn't state why it is thought to have been placed in relation to the crash.

Also, @underuser53929, could you perhaps edit the thread title to the best date format (2021-12-07)? Many thanks.

I've been close passed multiple times in that stretch of road, and actually have two separate close pass incidents open with the police (which don't seem to go anywhere)
