  • Getting a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers re-soled. Been having some problems with the knee I had rebuilt a few years back, so keen for a change from the cork nitrile soles. The official cobbler has quite a selection now, but I haven’t experienced all of them. Am currently leaning towards the Coffee Cushion crepe, as I have that on a pair of Weekender Oxfords and it’s super comfortable. But wondering if the Traction Tread is a bit more grippy and still forgiving on my knee. And I’ve no idea about the lugged Vibram soles as that seems to be quite a new addition to their range - are they very solid or do they have any give to them? Anyone able to share some insight?

  • I have a pair of austrian derbys with that vibram sole (at least I think so as I can't see the yellow vibram logo on the cobblers picture).
They are solid. Actually thought about adding insoles with gel pad to them, as they are not ideal when walking around for a day on hard ground.
