  • Just want to bring it back to its former glory. I would like the dial to be kept as is, I think the hands definitely need replacing, so does the crystal. Seems like it’s definitely a keeper… 👀

  • Anyone here that has experience with the Omega 3511.50?

I’m digging the size at 39mm and the overall esthetic.

  • It's the radial polishing that divides opinion. The original radial polish is really beautiful. Subsequent repolishing does detract from the looks in some ways but yours looks like it might benefit from it.

  • New Year's Resolution: sell my B&R Hydromax and my G-Shock Antman and my gold G-Shock 5000 and my two day-date reps and my gold sub rep and just be happy with my Lumibrite Lorus. It's all I need. Spend the money on converting my van into a camper.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s hard to find an example that still has that beautiful brushing on the case, most of them are either scratched to fu*k or overpolished. They still have the machines to do it at Omega, so it can be done, I’ll report back once it’s back.

Also, this guy just refinished one and I think it looks just as good as the original. So, it can be done.

  • Would love to see some pics of your day date reps!

  • Why sell them? (except the reps, I don't believe in them except if you have the real one in a safe. Get rid of them)

That actually sounds like a semi decent collection you have there. Get some pics up!

  • Yeah that finishing looks ace @PawG

  • Phwore yeah

  • I have the racing dial version with original but vg+ condition surround. It's good enough not to upset my enjoyment of the watch but when I look in detail it's pretty well worn.

The radial polish is a big part of the attraction of the model to me though.

  • Well, you’re lucky then :-) I had to make do with what I could get my hands on 😂
    Go on then, pictures please!

  • I got it from freddo of this parish, he has a really good eye.

  • holy fuck - the state of that before the refurb!

  • Woah...can't imagine that's particularly cheap to get done!

  • That's very impressive work.

  • Yeah, but at what cost 👀

@Airhead that looks really nice. Why haven’t I seen it on the Friday post? Also, what year is it?

  • I've been wearing an apple watch exclusively since June! Hence no Friday wrist shots. It has appeared here a few times though.

I tend to keep my watches and there was a 10 year gap between buying my 4 line sub and the MkII. I only wanted this particular MkII having seen a picture freddo put on here when he bought it.

Just love the faded dial colours, the orange/yellow/grey are all exactly where I want them to be.

    I think it's '79 but I've not looked into it, can't remember why I think it's '79 either.

  • That is beautifully done. When you see them with a fresh case and old dial it doesn't always sit right, the fade of the dial is a big deal for me so I couldn't get on with new face/hands/case.

I have toyed with the idea of getting the new version but it's not quite the same.

  • That does look nice. That era of Speedmasters is definitely my favourite, need to do some research on prices at some point.

  • Also the new ones are quite a bit bulkier, I think.
I know what you mean about the original hands/dial etc looking just right. They are way out of my price range though. Not sure when was the last time you checked the prices, but a good condition ones are well over £3k these days. That’s why I decided to search for one to refurbish. And I’m hoping it’ll look right. Thankfully the tritium on the dial didn’t fade too much (I’ve seen some examples go very brown), so the new handset shouldn’t look too out of place. Anyway…

  • Well...I want to go travelling, so I have an urge to declutter. I want a daily beater with weekday to wear forever. And I'd like it to be mechanical. So none of my watches fits the bill. I'm thinking about putting a Day-date rep 2386 in the case of the gold Sub. I like the Sub a lot. That would be a solution.
