  • what's the point in even looking into it? what could it achieve? neighbours are unlikely to knock down the porch and they're not going to compensate you for the infringement. doubt the planners would be interested either. making it an issue just risks needless bad blood. having neighbours is stressful enough - trust me, I know. if you buy the place and they subsequently tear down the porch, with plans to reinstate it, you could probably have the conversation then...

  • I think I am with @cozey on this, probably not worth it. It will be annoying but we will have to wait for an suitable opportunity (if porch gets work done on/house changes hands) and mention it then. In the meantime, if I ever get on a ladder I will remove that excess piss yellow paint on our side...

    They don't have to do anything about it. They'll resent you for it, or at least be a bit confused that you even bought it up. If you buy that place, you are 100% stuck with it.
