Can't wait to drop £110 on it only for them to decide they want to stay indoors lol
I see you are wise in the way of cats.

I think it's ok not to let cats go outside, stops them killing birds and getting into fights. Mine are fully indoor cats - maybe if I lived in a different country I'd consider letting them out (under supervision).

Haha that tipi with the box is amazing 🙂

I caught both cats mid-stretch. Sometimes I think they get on well, other times they drive me to distraction.

Mine is allowed in the (fenced) garden when we're home. Still kills lizards, grasshoppers and even snakes from time to time. Then again, Maine Coon's are good hunters.

Snakes!!!! How big a snake are we talking about?!
-
• #12083
He encountered three so far and killed one, all of them about a meter in length but not that thick. Whenever Legend is outside, we are as well so I've always caught him in the act.
As I have no way of knowing whether or not the snake might be venomous, I prefer to simply kill it with a rock and throw it in the field. With the one he killed however, I was too late haha.
I've come across some vipers whilst on the bike but only higher up the mountains.
He licked a toad once which made him foam at the mouth, which was quite scary. Washed out his mouth immediately and no problem after, it appears to be a reaction to a toxin the toad releases via the skin when in danger.

Celeste's annual check up at the vet is today (right now in fact). She is hiding under the bed and won't come out, having bitten me when I tried to put her in her case. My hand is swollen and painful. Celeste is scared and angry. I'm in tears. Meabh is wandering about eating the snacks I left out to tempt Celeste. Nothing is going well.

Does anyone have any tips for getting a particular cat to leave your garden/area alone? Our cat, Blue has been constantly getting beaten up by a massive bengal that seems to have moved to the area a couple of months ago. Blue's constantly getting injured and it seems like a matter of time before something really bad happens. So far we've tried dumping a pint of water on him and letting our dog out to bark at him (only when he's safely out of the way, we don't want to actually hurt him). These both worked in the short term but he keeps coming back.

Hope your hand is healing and you managed to get Celeste to the vets!

Try to get in some sniper water pistol action every time it appears so it associates your garden with getting soaked (I know the other things are similar actions but I think consistency is key).

I bought a water pistol for this purpose! My girlfriend keeps forgetting to use it though and she's the one that's home during the day.

Yeah if you're working from home it's not like you can down tools to pick up the water pistol quick enough necessarily. It's frowned upon in Teams meetings 😅

It's a year today since I brought this little cone head home <3
We haven't yet made it back to the vet but my hand has healed okay and I have reinforcements lined up for the weekend... watch out Celeste!

I can't believe she was so little. She's still quite little (3.4kg) but she was a titch a year ago.

I managed to wrangle Celeste to the vet today, it took two humans (who both got scratched) and a lot of furniture got rearranged, but it got done! Excited to do it all again in a month when she needs an antibody test to make sure her vaccines have worked...

Best bit about the vet was when they asked if I had any nice photos of her for her licence... Why yes, I have several hundred photos of her...

Well done! Our first and only trip to the vet so far sounded similarly stressful. Saff really hates the big plastic carrier we had, I think she's traumatised from her flight over from Abu Dhabi (!) where she was rescued. Took forever to get her into it, by which time we missed our appointment at the vets and had to pay extra for the nurse to stay after closing. And the first Uber driver to arrive was allergic to cats and drove off...
Now we have a fabric backpack style carrier which we've left out for them to use as a bed, in the hopes they associate it with nicer experiences than their plastic crates. Should also mean I can walk/cycle them to the vets and avoid any Uber shenanigans

Noticed a cat up a tree today, maybe 10 ft in the air. The tree was not alone, but in a group of trees. The cat seemed calm and relaxed with that sort of non-plussed face they do. I will check tomorrow morning to hopefully see it has vanished. Never seen that before!

You've never seen a cat in a tree?

no, not that I can remember.

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but Dizzy is so chilled I just have to pick her up and put her on the passenger seat in the car and off we go. I don’t even put her in a cage or box, we just carry her in to the vet. Obviously she’s not mad keen on the examination room but she doesn’t panic or fight, just looks a bit worried. Then it’s back in the car and home for Dreamies. Posts like your make me realise how lucky we are.
