All solid points.
I'm prob being over cautious but I would want to know the exact situation regardless of action (defo wouldn't start a relationship with "You need to knock part of your house down" - actually maybe I would, those plastic porches should be illegal)
It's prob a bit too mean spirited, even for me, to share the insta, just imagine every middle class white couple who have bought a terrace house in East London Instagram ("My little doer upper (£750k)" "Our little white terrace (£700k)") and take away the DIY element and add shit builders and a weak concept. -
I think I am with @cozey on this, probably not worth it. It will be annoying but we will have to wait for an suitable opportunity (if porch gets work done on/house changes hands) and mention it then. In the meantime, if I ever get on a ladder I will remove that excess piss yellow paint on our side...
what's the point in even looking into it? what could it achieve? neighbours are unlikely to knock down the porch and they're not going to compensate you for the infringement. doubt the planners would be interested either. making it an issue just risks needless bad blood. having neighbours is stressful enough - trust me, I know. if you buy the place and they subsequently tear down the porch, with plans to reinstate it, you could probably have the conversation then...
