  • At risk of sounding megafussy is it worth mentioning this subtle encroaching by next door neighbour before buying a house?
I know it is probably not worth the stress but I wonder if it is worth to record the cheekiness of such fine porch since everyone has brought lawyers to the party... just in case next door wake up felling like annexing further territory one day

    No.

  • I would. The pos porch is on the other house.

  • What are you expecting to achieve by doing so?

  • I’d prob look into it, but maybe not the best way to start a relationship with neighbours.
Prob built before planning permission was a thing unlike my friends neighbours who have built a mess of an extension over the party wall and too high and my friends are too nice to point it out to them.
Said rule breakers also have a cringe inducing Instagram for their house work.

  • If you really want to do something about it, it would be a price negotiation with the owner based on 'I didn't realise what a fucking piss take the neighbours porch was'

Because when you sell it (should you buy it), that will happen to you.

  • From what I can see it's unlikely to have got planning permission (it wouldn't qualify for permitted development as it's within 2m of your property). I would say that the lack of flashing between the roof tiles on the porch and the wall it's leaning onto is a strong indicator that the work has not been signed off by building control.

As others have said it's not worth mentioning though.
