PS. you've done it now... better hope I get drunk and forget about this trackid mission.
Oh fuck, save yourself before it’s too late. It’s gave me genuine misery.
Over the years I’ve thought it did have a slight Mauro Picotto vibe but I was really into him in the late nineties and know pretty much all of his tunes.

The monster sound was a deeper low frequency than that.
On the plus side, in searching for this song it’s led me to discover loads of other bangers with similar monster sounds -

A few hard tracks here from Tiesto
Who knew? Also… this thread is fucking great. Not sure If I’ve been in here before.
Don’t think I’ve ever heard those Tiesto bangers before

There's a Misjah track called Red Weed which gave me tonnes of grief trying to track down... only to find out I'd actually bought it already! It's somewhat ironic in relation to your case in that it uses the War of the Worlds sample at the start... "No one would've believed..."

You don't remember anything else apart from the break and maybe acid bleeps? I'm trying to think of tracks with big evil breakdowns but it's not the sort of thing I remember.

Sorry I know it’s a hopelessly vague description.
I’m hopeful about going through all his SoundCloud mixes, at the very least I discover new bangers. -

Yeah, I reckon I'll be playing through a few of these now.

Think I posted some Moderat (Apparat & Modeselector) tracks before.. anyways here's a nice recording of them doing their thing live -
-

So good. Love Moderat.
I think I read once that the collaboration came about because their kids went to the same school. Apparently they clocked each other waiting at the school gates and it went something like “wait… aren’t you modeselektor? Oh shit are you Apparat? We should totally jam together some time!”

I like percussion-heavy dark atmospheric stuff like Pan-Pot. Who else should I be listening to for that sort of tackle?

Pig&Dan got the perc not so much the atmospheric

Without listening to them side by side maybe M.R.E.U.X., Orbe, Phillipe Petit. I could be wildly off the mark though.

As does JJ

Excellent - thanks both. That’s today’s listening sorted.

Percussion heavy but on the lighter side I really rate Artefakt
Percussion heavy and in a sort of almost Modular Tribal tip, I really rate Forest Drive West

This Orbe mix is absolutely superb.

Thanks 🙏.
Funnily enough, a friend recommended FDW a while back after seeing him in London. From what I’ve listened to, he’s at his best when he’s playing more breaks-y stuff like this mix…

Ooh will check that, thanks

Too obvious?

And a less obvious choice.

I’ve always found Sven Vath a bit ‘big room’ and bordering on cheesy personally.
-
• #2299
Yeah he probably defines big room techno. How about some darker Spanish techno?
