Sounds like how I met my missus, except it was London a couple of years later.
Now I want to find the 2004 BanGer. Who was playing? Was the set recorded? What tempo? Explain how the track went in more detail... Was it all kicks or was there some sick bassline? Much in the way of synth melody on top or no?

It was Andrew Pirie playing (one half of the Melting Pot resident djs). Was maybe around 120bpm. There was like a 2 second break(I always mind this guy whistled during the silence like he knew and loved the tune) then it dropped and thats when I became aware of it... This synthy sound was a bit like what I think folk in the biz would call The Sizzle combined with a sort of lazer beamy wobbly bass noise. Then there was this sound that I can only describe as being similar to the loud scary noise that the monsters made
in the 2005 War or the worlds! Fuck!
I still remember it so vividly. Its annoying because I know that Andrew Pirie plays vinyl only sets at Melting Pot. I know for a fact that he has the record sitting there in the collection somewhere. So near yet so far.
It’s 2004, I’m at a Melting Pot night in Glasgow, completely off my chops. I turn around and this young lady is looking straight at me and asks me my name, her confidence is frightening. I can barely hear what she’s saying, she has a strange foreign accent… and that’s when I heard it. An absolute stonker techno tune, the beat is absolutely pounding. There’s this insane sound that send the hairs on my arms on end. A sort of 90’s rave sound. I can see my mates head bouncing in the crowd, every fibre of me is drawn to the dance floor. What is this filthy beat? I need to know. I ask my new foreign pal to come for a wee dance, she looks bewildered and says I should come find her later and walks away. I turn around and lock eyes with my mate on the dance floor, his arms out wide like a Techno Jesus. Is it gods techno?
I found strange foreign accent lady and we got married many year later.
To this day I still haven’t found the tune though. One of the Melting Pot dj’s works for a Glasgow HiFi shop and I accidentally bumped into him in the shop and tried to describe the song to him. He clearly couldn’t get away from me fast enough.
Can’t remember where I was going with all this now really. But one day I’ll hear the tune again and I’ll find this fucking bike.
