Would go regular 9 or 10 speed external gears, we have two here that are 2019 version, apart from all the usual Tern 'features', such as incomplete welds, holes in the frame, twisted frame, twisted impossible to fit racks, brake mount in the wrong place, headset lower race seat not cut in the frame straight, have worked just fine with external gears. They get no use for a month, then absolutely hammered by ham fisted types for a month and apart from a chain only lasts about 1000-1500 miles, the gear and brake aspect of them (Magura something, e8?) have been the best part. Benefits of Envilio is really only for leisure users, they tend to explode if you use them hard. Yes there is warranty, but you will be without a bike each time, whereas regular gears any old bike shop or you can sort them out.
Would look at Benno eBoost if you want a decent long tail, 24" wheel size is a PITA for tyres, but IMO they are better built than Tern, especially the accessories, and cheaper, base bike is about £4.3k, so will every extra your just over £5k with a Bosch gen4 Cx or Cargo (can't remember which is the right term). Doesn't fit smaller people though, 5'3 kinda the lower limit.
Tern GSD is £5.7k now? Nope.
