Prince Andrew makes ‘unprecedented’ request for evidence in sex abuse case to be kept secret

The Duke of York has made an “unprecedented” request for all witness testimony taken in his sexual abuse case to be kept secret, it has emerged.
He wants depositions, including his own, to remain under seal, even if neither party declares the evidence confidential.

Initially read that as the Princess of Wales, that would have been weird.

They used to play it at the end of BBC 1 programming at about 2am. Always surprising if you'd nodded off in front of the telly and it woke you up.

There was an instance on BBC NI back in the early 80s, iirc, when the guys who manually started the anthem every night failed to do it correctly. They instead broadcast a few minutes of 'Have you pressed the fucking button?', 'Yes of course I pressed the fucking button!' to a few half-awake viewers. Lost their jobs, poor sods.

I can almost hear their die-hard supporters reaching Francis Bourgeois levels of ecstasy at the very possibility of this happening

The Palace are briefing that Her Maj won't pay for his lawyers. Sounds like they are finally trying to distance themselves from it all (unsuccessfully so).

Surely he's holding enough folding to be able to pay for his own legal team? Can't go to Mummy for everything...

Giuffre's team saying 'very unlikely' to accept financial settlement. Which either means she's insisting Andy has his day in court or they're playing hardball for very big money. Hoping for the former.

The bit that really tickles me about this is that even as high and mighty as he considers himself to be, he’s not above the law. He’s being back into a corner and there’s no amount of privilege and help from mummy that will get him out of it. 🤞🏼

What happens if he just ignores it and loses by default? I assume he wouldn't be extradited because its a civil case. Can the US come after his money here?

What if the tax payer funds an open prison in the grounds of Buckingham palace for Andrew with pizza express 2 for £10 menu every day?

I feel a bit sorry for him. No way out unless he tops himself or has an accident.

Or accepts that he’s done wrong and lives with the consequences, like a regular human.
