• Dear all,
Please excuse the lack of text as I'm still trying to figure out how all of this works.
Going forward I'll try and post some updates of my -and her- bikes.
You've all been a huge source of inspiration!
    First up;
    RIH Model Super Course
Came to me about 5 years back in all original condition with Shimano 600 tricolore. Rode it, loved it, got another bike, and another, and forgot about it.

Fast forward a couple of bikes, and I thought it'd be fun to build up the RIH again, but with some modern concessions. Had a full 6700 group lying around, so started with that. Changed out some bits along the way, with the biggest upgrade being the carbon forks. Love this thing, especially on the DA 7700 wheels (mainly because these look WILD).

Don't see to many Stevens over at LFGSS, but this thing is solid! Bought it gently used from a gentleman who's daughter did cross sponsored by Stevens - and did tens of thousands of km's on it since! Road, gravel, winter miles and summer smiles - everything! Changed out the standard Fulcrums for some Scribe's after about 20k, and just about every other bit besides the frame and handlebars have been replaced since, but still love it. Usually run Continental Speed King CX in 35mm, but change them out for GP5000 in 32mm or the Kojaks pictured when it suits.

  • Mrs. Moonwatch: CAAD13

Though not her main bike, it's save to say this is Mrs. Moonwatch's pride and joy. Whilst the main bike has discs and a 1x set-up, this has a classic Ultegra 2x rim brake set up. It's fairly standard, with the exception being the carbon wheels, Pro saddle and Supacaz tape. Latest set-up is with some skinwall tires, which look absolutely wicked - will update soon!

  • I have serious envy on that RIH. Fantastic pictures too, what are you shooting with if I can ask?

  • Thank you! These were shot with a Canon EOS-R.
I'll try and do a little write-up including specs ASAP.

  • finally found the time to add a few words to the pics ^

  • Enter the CAAD 5. Transferred a few bits from the RIH, added some AliExpress, and there you go.

  • good stuff! that RIH is superb too

  • Nice thread. Some great builds there.
RIH my fave but the saeco looks great too.

  • Thanks guys, much appreciated!

  • Love them all, but that Saeco transformation photo set is particularly cool. Looks so nice after the changes!

  • sold all the old parts too, and made back over half of the purchase price!

  • That caad 5 is really nice

It must be light with the 1x setup

  • New year, new project; came across this Gazelle Champion Mondial AA Special frameset in 'Piet de Wit' livery on Marktplaats, seller not too far from me. Great frame, 531 from mid nineties so with the internal rear cable routing, Cinelli spoiler BB. Final build will be much like the RIH, but 11 speed and with a few silver bits here and there. Tempted to use the Columbus Minimal forks again as well, though it feels a bit sacrilegious as the original ones look great.

  • I was looking at this too, great colors but a bit too small for me unfortunately. Glad to see it went to a nice home!
Don't change the forks please! Get a nice quill stem for it instead.

  • sub'd!

  • Saw this on MP too, nice catch! Silver parts will be good match

  • Awesome, saw this on Marktplaats as well (thankfully it's way too big for me haha). Guess it ain't too heavy either.

  • The original forks are pretty stunning and it feels like a bit of a waste to replace them with the Columbus Minimal. However with the modern 11-speed componentry I do think the end result may just work. If not, I'll revert back to the originals + quill.

  • Here's the two of them side by side.
The RIH is a size 60; the Gazelle 56. The difference shows (though in this pic not really), especially with the shortish 545mm top tube of the Gazelle.

  • Modern group set + quill can look really good together.

  • Those Gazelle forks look approximately 1,000,000% better than the Columbus ones.
