  • I agree, but I’m not particularly aware of the role of the Soviet Union being diminished. Don’t most people who have a passing knowledge of WW2 know that the battle of Stalingrad was the turning point on the Eastern front, and by extension in Europe? I’m asking in good faith by the way!

  • I imagine if you went to Russia and talked to football casuals you might get a similarly chauvinistic analysis. I’m not sure what my point is though.
