  • I'd imagine they're planning on playing the U18s anyway so sure it will go ahead...

  • Why can’t they use these players tonight in a cup match where they usually play the youngsters anyway?

Stick a youth team coach in there who knows the players well and see what they can do.

  • I mean, you could make that argument for every game that has been called off so far I guess - cup semifinal against prem team > early round of FA cup against lower league team....

The arguments being offered are actually about the health and safety of the rest of the team/management/coaches/driver etc re limiting further exposure and not travelling when you may be in the midst of a proper outbreak... seems sensible.

  • My main point was that the league cup is a bit of a waste of a competition and most teams don’t take it too seriously, but now Liverpool have decided they will.

Probably didn’t come across as well as I wanted when reading it back.

  • It's been moved to Sunday 23rd.

  • Thing is, Klopp has been bleating on for ages about fixture pile up and playing teams with 48 hour turn around. Compare also Chelsea position yet still having to play. I am sure those things aren't lost on anyone or the fact that several of their players are representing their countries at Afcon.

  • Yep, bit of a bugger for those who bought advance train tickets, hotels, etc.

  • And Liverpool fulfilled (or were willing to) all their fixtures over Christmas. I don't think this run of three cup games were of particular concern to Liverpool/Klopp as they will rest everyone against Shrewsbury. The more charitable interpretation is that they are in the middle of a covid outbreak, with confirmed cases and, implied in this decision, others pending. All this is going to achieve for Liverpool is further fixture pile-up when they really don't want it later in the month...

  • There was a lovely Glasweejun in my old stockwel local. Tam, who would explode with rage saying they should work 11 hrs in the ship yards or carrying brick for a living then ask them how tired they are... I think Barry has mentioned him on the guardian pod before about this. It's was quite fun to roll that grenade in and watch him go for it.

Going to an actual game? Madness!

They should consider staying at home and listening to it on the radio, or watching it on teletext, or even posting about it on a cycling forum.

  • Oh great…

  • Big up Kiddi Harriers, my local team around where I grew up. An amazing FA cup result and great coverage of it on TalkSPORT.

  • Nice to avoid the upset against Hull. We are really quite crap at times. They played the better footy for good while. Gray’s goal was a thing of beauty, though, and the Hull equaliser was a great hit.

  • I went, we were atrocious, Kiddy better team by a country mile. I knew we would lose, we are shambolic at the moment, I had £20 on Kiddy at 6/1

  • Why are all the ITV staff saying the West Ham goal is offside when you can clearly see Lanzini has another touch before the goalie fumbles it that means the ball is ahead of Bowen when the ball breaks through.

They all seem to be talking about the last touch being the moment before when Bowen was offside. Surprised no one has corrected any of the broadcast team.

  • Isn't the guy behind lanzini keeping him onside too?

  • Arsenal’s all white kit, wow that’s a powerful message. Props to Idris Elba for making that happen

  • Very admirable, shame the white-on-white numbers aren't great for TV

  • Lol Arsenal are terrible.

  • But, but, but they were good in a 2-1 defeat by City!

  • And hopeless against Forest, that was shambolic

  • It's a bit funny how obsessed you are with that game.

    Wasn't a good game though.

  • Sorry - I will stop trolling
