  • In between rounds of Hell Let Loose I've gotten into DayZ again. Been playing the Livonia map on vanilla servers should anyone be interested. It's a bit of a slog getting past the first hour (as it always was) but now is a pretty good time to try. They have these christmas trees in most town centres with presents underneath containing random loot (food/drink/clothes/weapons/ammo etc.) You can cautiously find one and wait for a server reset then hoover all the presents up leaving coal/landmines for the KoS bandits who seem to be prevalent.

I've just made my way south after being fully fed/watered for the first time in about 20 spawns / 5 days (caught a load of chickens and made a campfire). The southern half of the map is basically thick forest with random old military bunkers full of high tier loot. There are also dynamic 'contaminated' areas which are fun. Plus bears/wolves etc.

  • I think so - it's MUCH more polished. Plays really well considering what it used to be. Not as slick as PUBG these days but better than HLL.

For example now if you walk near a tree there's 0 chance you'll trip on a root and break both of your legs.
