I await the governments announcement of extra support for early years education to help the kids catch up.

Members of the cabinet are rapidly forming shell companies so they can sub-contract out to the existing companies that would have done this anyway.

Looks like we are going to be kept locked down over here in NL amid increasing numbers.
I think that if you are still testing positive after 10 days here you are deemed to have "recovered". I further believe that that is likely to count as one of your two vaccine doses if you are at that stage.I got an on-spec booster when I was in the UK Over Christmas. Had no intention of doing so but accompanied someone getting theirs and the vax team said "Why not get one done" and doubly so when they heard my initial vaccination was J&J.
I had realized this was likely to be a record-keeping nightmare but was frankly scared enough of Omicron to ignore that and think "I'll just get another booster in NL" but actually have come up with a pretty nasty armpit rash that suggests that maybe I won't :-)

That isn't what the guidance says for thier staff
It is though. If you test positive on the 8th, 9th or 10th day then your isolation continues (since it continues to the end of the 10th full day without satisfying the early release criteria).
If you test positive on the 10th day then you still continue the isolation to the end of that day, but then you just need to continue the daily testing and not return to work until you test negative. It doesn't mention isolating past 10 days.
"not return to work" is not the same thing as "isolation"
Ref: https://www.ouh.nhs.uk/working-for-us/staff/covid-staff-faqs-self-isolation.aspx
You must continue to take lateral flow tests on day 8, 9, and 10 of your original isolation period. If any of these are positive, you must isolate and wait 24 hours before taking the next lateral flow test
If the test is positive on the 10th day, you should continue to take daily tests and must not return to work until you get a negative test result -

Its just confusing AF

Yep, I expect there will be clarifying "People should do what they think is responsible" from the Government at some point soon.

My understanding is that part of the reason you were advised not to LFT for 90 days after infection was that it was assumed the chance of a false positive was significantly greater than the chance of a reinfection. This may not be the case with Omicron, particularly a Delta to Omicron reinfection.
This is a separate point to why it is assumed someone still turning up positive LFTs 11 days+ after first symptoms is not considered an infection risk. My hunch is the same as Greenbank's, and that it's more likely than not that you are still infectious to a degree.
Those churning out long term positive LFTs (20 days plus for instance) are a headscratcher though.

This is a fair point, I guess I work on the assumption if I am not well enough to be allowed to go in to work, I shouldn't be out in the community but yeh the rules wouldn't prevent me

fingers crossed for you. Hopefully the FFP3 has saved you!

hope it's recoverable.
Deaf people face similar/worse when their parents don’t provide accessibility, they’ll recover.

And now there's no need to get a PCR if you test positive on a LFD but have no symptoms.

Latest ONS stats show that London has almost certainly peaked for cases (barring any increase from kids being back at school). My theory/speculation was invalid.

My youngest is behind in her speech and language development. She’s just turned three. I think it’d be the case even without the pandemic but I’m quite certain it’s not helped.

Our youngest was born just about within the first 12 months of C19 - her favourite thing to eat is dry cat food. Who do I blame?

Your fault if you don’t actually own a cat.

Our Trust are ramping up PCR test capacity for staff, if you test positive on LFT then they will PCR you..... If negative then back to work I guess

UK travel restrictions are now being lifted again, so no more Test before flights and just a LFT after 2 days.
Riding out the current wave!!!!!!!!

Hurts to laugh but this was worth it.

Where u not following SAGE modelling?
The SAGE modelling doesn't go down to the level of predicting which day a region peaks. I was just being nerdy with other data nerd friends really. The question was, peak on the 29th December or mid to late this week. I thought the latter, based on tests taken and case confirmed uncoupling from the 21st Dec onwards.
London didn't behave like it did last Christmas in terms of case levels. I think the big thing I missed was how many Londoners left the city to visit friends and family compared to last year, which would explain why tests taken dropped so much while positivity continued to sky rocket for the people who remained.

Are we expecting a second higher peak? To get back on track with this prediction?

I isolated for most of December because I was hoping to visit some immune compromised people. Some people ridiculed me for it assuming that I was acting out of a concern for my own health.
