• Amazing effort in here, and for a good cause none the less. Congrats!

I vaguely remember it being mentioned in the thread a while back, but now that youre almost at the end of it, whats your recovery plan like? I imagine you wont sleep off a year of fatigue in a week or two.

  • My recovery plan is to have a slow taper as I would of done roughly 24 hour weeks for 52 weeks, so I'm going to do 2 x 10 hour weeks and then have a full rest week off the bike (I'll probably walk a lot this week as I can see myself being bored). After these 3 weeks I'll start training again, my plan is to incorporate more strength work as I've done zero this year and I can feel this in my knees now.

I'm definitely interested in doing some fitness tests once I've recovered, I'll probably do the classic ramp/FTP test but I will also do 2 hours at both 130 and 150bpm.

  • That sounds like a very reasonable approach. Regarding strength work, thats what helped me with my ITB injury. There was a big imbalance in hamstring strength, and I havent had any ITB issues since I was like 14. The thing is, I've been doing at the minimum 4 sets of deadlifts 50 weeks out of the year ever since.... until I got back into cycling, and neglected the gym last year.

    Good luck with your plan!
