I think this is just a poor design. If the 45° angle at the bottom is so important why not supply a seatpost with that already on it then and maybe add some parallel guide lines to follow if the user does need to cut it or offer 2 or 3 different post lengths depending on what the riders requirements or just put a lip in the seat post above the wheel arch or both. This clearly isn't the first time this has happened to one of these. I bet that omission in the warranty was added after Giant were already aware of this potential problem with these frames.
