Selling this Greyhound road bike. 55cm seat tube. I’m 5’11 with a 31 inseam and just about stand over bike without touching.
Price: £350 (I paid £700 for the build + another £200 on the new bits from Cloud 9). Bike is based in London, 5 mins from Earls Court station if you wanted to see.
I don’t know too much about this frame or bikes in general. Bought the frame as part of a single speed build from Hackney Peddler a year ago. The frame is old - I think HP said late 50s and the craftsmanship is clearly there. Believe was made in Hammersmith, UK just down the road from me.
The frame is in good condition in that there are no dings, dents, bends or cracks. Cosmetically it has got the original paint still so is now wearing off as you can see. For a city ride it doesn't look obviously expensive to thieves. I like that it still has the original paint and you can see the frame for what it is, no quick paint job cover ups.
About 6 months ago the handlebars, seat post, saddle were changed and new brake cables and chain was fitted by Cloud 9 Cycles (someone stole the saddle and then cut the cables and chain). The seat post and saddle is fitted with a HEXLOX bolt which can’t be removed using a standard allen key and requires a special key and if you lose the key they can be replaced. It just gives peace of mind that it’s gonna be far harder to pinch the saddle or seatpost now - (key and replacement code included in sale)
I’ve ridden it around London a lot for commuting. It's a light nippy single speed for getting about or perhaps a very pretty pub bike or for someone to restore with complete period parts. I am only selling as want something more suitable for light touring with gears and only have space for one bike.
If you’d be interested in splitting bits of the bike up just let me know although for ease of sale would like to just keep it all together and you can then take it apart if you wish. Am no bike mechanic to strip it all cleanly or have the equipment available to do so.
Would also be v interested in trades or part exchange for a more modern geared road bike with drops.
Parts list below and pictures (can send more images). Some of the parts are unbranded. If you have any questions or more info about the frame would love to hear. Thanks, John.
