This feels worrying, if people are being infected and infecting unknowingly, with LFTs being so unavailable.
This has always been the case. 1 in 3 people have no symptoms, it's all over the 'get tested' messaging from the government.

That's on me for being resolutely rubbish at reading and messaging from the government.

Well, it's not all that! But the one in three thing was pre-omicron, so the point stands as it's probably even higher now.

Yeah, weird flex.
Sorry to hear that @VintageJon - I can well believe that was a wake up call and it must have been a traumatic experience. Hope you're doing well now.

The Sage and LHSTM modelling has been bang on for this wave so far.
Although you won't have to look hard to find people on t'internet claiming otherwise.

Can’t wait until 4pm for the daily stats to come out.
Said no one ever

I turned out negative lft tests on day 6 and 7, then felt a bit shit and took another on day 8 that was positive. Called test and trace and they said to ignore it and I didn’t have to isolate.
Wife and in laws have turned out positives every day up to day 10.
Such a weird thing.

I had a PCR test done at 8am on Wednesday and it took 74 hours to come back (negative). Testing system straining at the seams still I think.
Still can't really see how people are saying London is peaking given positivity and testing access/reporting problems. I'd be very surprised if there is not a significant backlog to slap on for the last 7 day period or so.

Called test and trace and they said to ignore it and I didn’t have to isolate.
Did they give you a reason? Or did you mention any issues with the test?
Am I alone in feeling that it’s becoming more and more difficult to identify what’s reality vs. irrationality vs. misinformation vs. satire where politics and covid-related news are concerned?

My wife spoke to them so I don’t know details but the basic gist is that I was very unlikely to be infectious. And that I may test positive occasionally for an unspecified amount of time.
My symptoms were mild tiredness (also have a 10 month old so go figure on that), very mild headache and mild swollen neck glands, so none of the “main” symptoms. I would’ve thought twice about calling in sick pre Covid. Each of the three tests was a different brand, no idea if that makes a difference.

Partner tested negative on the 28th and arrived with me at 7 PM. Around 5 PM on the 29th she tested positive, me negative. She has a sore throat and that's about it. 12.30 PM on the 30th we both took a PCR, hers positive and mine negative. 6.15 PM on the 31st I was still negative. 1 PM today I was still negative.
Dodged it? Or am I going to get it in the next couple of days and have to do back to back isolation?
I did have my booster on the 19th so I timed it pretty well luckily

"John O’Looney, a funeral director and antivaxer, had been due to speak at the march but is believed to be in hospital with Covid."
Link was from twitter, not paywalled for the time being at least.

Telegraph perhaps trying to row back on their opeds saying that the models were dodgy science bullshit by "doom mongers" and everything is going to be tickety boo?

Two years in and everyone still be like, what does exponential growth look like?
Depends if you say God is your vaccination. Or that you naturally cured covid with NHS treatment....
