  • A place to celebrate the wonderful beverages.

(Previously there was a post here about recommendations)

  • Buckfast.

  • PX
    ftw!

  • Not an expert but....

    Here

That'll give you an idea of the good years - All my good ones were either gifts or bought from Porto so can't help with the where from. A quick google should find you an online dealer. £100 can get you something very nice indeed especially if you are laying it down.

  • Might not be quite what you are after but you can by a voucher for this years port, and exchange it for the real thing once it is bottled, did this for my niece

  • In the budget price range, I had a bottle of this over Christmas (among several others), was rather nice. (a timely reminder that i should buy another bottle or two)

  • Cracked a bottle of Ratafia de Champagne (from Vince, of on here fame) and it is sweet and wonderful.
    Nice change to port.

    Would recommend.

  • This is nice, more like a Tawney.

  • Not strictly what you are asking for but Metaxa is well worth a go if you haven't had it before

  • Thanks for the love!

We have just rebranded our Ratafia as the latest "appellation" rules have evolved., labels can't say Champagne anywhere. Not even our "Champagne Lasseaux" brand.

  • Busted out the 2009 Palmer's white port.
    Very nice.
Was the year I married, which inspired the purchase.

  • This thread is for me. Love a Sherry

  • Took a chance on the Lidl port. Very very easy to drink, absolute bargain.

  • The thread title is hugely broad, but are you just after port? If you're after sherry or Madeira do you have particular style in mind?

  • That was 4 years ago, buddy.

  • How long does Madeira wine keep?

(more or less than 4 years?)

  • More I'd suspect it being fortified

  • Hah! Sounds about right for a thread about cellaring stuff.

  • It's already oxidised, so in theory a very long time

  • New to Port, I've enjoyed the Cockburn's Special Reserve with a cube of ice.

What's a next step up? Maybe the £15 sort of range?

  • Marks and Spencer's Special Reserve one it quite good, fairly sure it is often a tenner, guessing regular price is around £15.

Lidl have also supplied the goods on more than one occasion and not been a terrible experience.

I do want to try your "over ice" style, I usually prefer it slightly above room temperature, never had it chilled.

  • Yes, the M&S one is good.

  • White port over ice is a great thing

  • I'm passing an M&S tomorrow, will grab a bottle to try.

  • Today's delivery, for personal consumption over Christmas.
