  • Wow, that's some starter....must be brave to have Pauliac as a starter, as what to do for the main, another super red, perhaps more meat loving one? Also lovely to see Radikon among them. I knew Stanko (the owner who unfortunately passed away couple of years or so ago) and his wines well and hope his son continues the tradition.

Le us know your thoughts about the wine...

  • Ha! They didnt upload in the right order.
Radikon, pauillac and then papillon but both are still going

These are 3 of my favourite wines and which I now have no more of (these vintages) 😭 - Slatnik was from 2015 and Papillon from 2013. After this year it felt like we should do something nice so decided to crack into a few lovely bottles. They all drank as expected and complemented the food very well, although feeling the effects of several hours or eating and drinking by this point!

  • How was it? The last bottle of 2001 I drank had died a little in the bottle, losing some of its lustre. Yesterday’s was excellent. 19 years is a roll of the dice for the complex chemistry of the phenols. The Wine Society has more recent vintages on offer, which are a bit more reliable, with more fruit in evidence, but still very good.

  • Casual Friday

  • I have a bottle of this from work. Everything seems to say it needs decanting for ages?

  • Dibs :p

Enjoy, Classed vintage Bordeaux is always a treat - even more so when its from a producer like that....

  • 😎 yep it’s a doozy

  • Dining out last night, very generous host selected this. Chardonnay of the highest order

  • does a sommeliers list of skills now have to include how to hold the bottle correctly so the diner can instagram the label ?

used to be such a proud and noble art !

  • I’m biased and partial to a Chenin Blanc one in a while. Not that easy to find on wine lists over here but really enjoyed this one.

  • Ha I don’t know, but I did ask the sommelier to let me take a photograph of the label. Later he produced a fine leather bound handwritten notebook of all the fine wines he managed since arriving from France. Not necessarily uber expensive but certainly noteworthy. He wasn’t even 30 years old but knew his stuff

Cross post! We're looking for people to join us for the harvest.

Getting across to France won't be as easy / affordable as it once was but a great experience nonetheless!

  • A neat Galician red Ribeiro.

  • Wines for lunch today. Premier cru Beaune and a declassified Sauternes - allegedly Yquem.... Whatever it is it is very good.

  • Corr lovely bit of left bank

  • Grand Cru > Grand Bois
    75 Margeaux > Sugino 75

  • Was about to post in the GF thread and then laughed too much

Edit to add. Strong wine game here.. Cheap pinot from Aldi has just washed down my turkey

  • I would of said after it was decanted for an hour or so it really opened up but thought that would go straight into golf chat.
