It's all about speed.
The Velar (red rr early on) is a perfect example. It has a wade depth of 90cm so plenty above the water depth but the dickhead in it thought that meant he could be Rambo.
Go through slowly and the bow wave won't go over the engine and into the air intake.
There are definitely a few cars with low air intakes that will fail either way but most cars in the vid would have made it if they'd done 2mph through it.

So it's all about going slow. I seem to remember being told to select a higher gear. I guess moden automatics always go in a high a gear as possible anyway.
I always remember encouraging my dad to go though a flood in his Cavalier. My mum said it was stupid and we should turn around.
We didn't make it and my dad had to push us out.

Looking forward to watching this!

Yes, you want to enter the water very slowly then keep a low steady speed. All the cars that fail enter too quickly causing a wave that crashes over the bonnet. The first car in this video if a perfect example of how to do it properly:

The water level was also lower too, the other like the big van got floated quite easily when the level is high.

Watch this, the best part is in the beginning of a small VW Polo who got treated rather badly.

I know me too, its cool how one daft video can blow up your channel.

That is awesome. It'd be so interesting for the customer to see such a slickly edited video which shows how much knowledge, work and skill goes in to that sort of repair.

I love his straight line stuff, but find it odd that he doesn't do it a bit more under the radar, not having open fires, not planning to do more dangerous bits under the cover of darkness etc.
That being said running from the very angry famer was brilliant.

Content probably because the farmer escape was excellent.

this was good

The level of why is strong with this one

I'm quite enjoying this channel at the moment. Perhaps a slightly idealised view of some London districts but interesting and informative nonetheless

On London:
John Rogers is brilliant. Must be a repost

There's a pretty clear depth marker. I'm sure most of them would have made it through if they didn't drive through it too fast and get the bow wave over the bonnet but it's not the sort of thing they teach in driving lessons these days (/old man).
I wouldn't risk it myself, I'm sure there's a suitable diversion. You could draw a broader point around attitudes to modern car ownership, entitlement and insulation from the outside world for the perception of safety but that's for a different part of the forum.
