  • Looks cool. I wasn't going to mount mudguards to begin with. So I need to pursue the bracket idea, mount light from bars or stem or something.

  • These style racks would look great with the SON edelux protection cage from SVEN Cycles

  • In hindsight I kinda regretted not having one built into the rack, so a big thanks for letting me know this exists!

  • Separate allows better alignment with the light when changing angle?

  • I have never really understood the point of guard around the light.

  • In other news Wit is slinging me so new baggage.
    They will slap!

  • Stunning work from @Tijmen

I've successfully bled new brakes and clear rear mech. I just need to I wire it up and remount child seat.

I'll be able to do some nice photos soon as well as I am awaiting a parcel from Spotter with my new Fuji 50mm

  • Can’t wait to see them in the frame!

    @spotter
    I’d love to!

  • Weird dredge.. hwo did you source the wheels for the balance bike?

  • Well, an old friend gave them to me. And they are specially nice because rim is relatively light weight and seems build like good road rims. And hubs are alu as well spokes are steel chromed mild steel.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-X-1-75-Front-Wheel-Scooter-Kids-Bike-120mm-Axle-/254354770094?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

But there are some options out there.
Just received the front wheel that matches the rear I got for the pedal bike. Two of those would be nice for a balance bike. But rims are more crude and hubs are steel. But they run similarly and won't weigh that much more.

This seller has other wheels and there is loads more to choose from on AliExpress.
I just needed double threads on the rear and this was the only option that also matched the budget

  • I tend to have a childlike surge of excitment ,
each time I see the balance bike progressing.
But I m wondering about the disk brake , have you planned some sort of cover to safeguard young tinkerers?

  • <3 thx

No. It will be left exposed. I am a strong believer of educational actions/consequences :)

But tbh she is quite clever and careful so I imagine it will be alright.

  • Thanks for the link!
I've been eyeing the Trybike spare wheels on Cykelgear and their conversion kit to convert a 14" early rider to 12" wheels to improve the standover.. But I'll have to do some measuring to see if it will actually result in a significant change.

  • Try bike wheels look like the ones I just received, same time profile. Steel hubs as well but with cartridge bearings instead of ball bearings.

  • Honestly, the Trybikes hub looks similar to the ones already on the Early Rider as well.
Chances are they're all made in the same factory..

  • Current mood.

  • Whenever I this much snow I try to convince myself that Ineed a fat bike.

He really seems to be enjoying himself. Have you considered welding him a sleigh (I'd definitely be in the market for a bespoke sleigh)
