Thanks for posting this, I really appreciate it. It's nice to hear there's hope, if a little disheartening to hear how much work it took.
I like running cos it's quick and easy and a real escape. Life is so full at the moment that I've decided I just don't have the mental space to focus on planning any structure and conditioning so am just leaving it for a bit. Maybe Feb 2022 will give it another punt. -

@yoshy it did take a while but as long as i keep my s & c topped up I'm fixed and i was able to run a bit throughout my rehab. @doubleodavey has asked for details of the exercises so I'll send you them as well just incase when I get round to writing it up. In the meantime if your busy just some token single leg glute bridges and donkey kicks, theraband abduction exercises and hip flexor stretching should keep you ticking over. I'll try and post some videos later but you can run through those exercises in 10-15 minutes. I know it can be hard sometimes finding time. We've got a newborn and I'm busy and knackered at the moment but if I'm not feeling at least reasonably fit I'm miserable so for me it's something i need to do rather than something i like to do but my days certainly need more planning than they used to now I've got a kid I seem to be late with everything i do and it seems impossible to keep on top of the house work it seems non stop at the moment but I'm still going to grab an easy hour on the treadmill this evening because if i don't I'll end up having a drink for a bit of light relief.

Big list
Thanks for this. Christmas Day morning sorted.

You're welcome 👍

• #26881
Which one are you doing?
-
• #26882
I usually do Burgess, but that's not on, so probably Peckham.
-
• #26883
Are you doing one?
-
• #26884
Yep, not sure which one though. I was wondering which one you'd do seeing as Burgess wasn't on. I've not done many south ones, so might yet do Peckham.
I think you have seen my race face before, I look even more weathered two years on -

I'm just getting in under 24mins these days, not exactly your level!

What’s the equivalent of the festive 500 but for running? 150 or 200km?
-
• #26887
in a week? I'd have thought 150k is plenty. HM every day is fairly punchy.
-
• #26888
103 ish miles. My rule of thumb is any running effort is worth 3 x cycling.
-
• #26890
I think 120km is more comparable.
-
• #26891
Hmmm that seems more achievable. I’ll try that instead then!
-
• #26892
It's hard to compare too. The main thing I find a challenge about F500 is the amount of hours exposed to cold (or unpredictable) weather when you would rather be inside.

• #26893
75 miles in eight days? Hmm.
I might give it a go, the kids are off school after all, and the cold / dark / rain / wind seem quite attractive compared to bickering / fighting / shrieking / drinking beer at 11am

drinking beer at 11am
This is my plan
-
• #26895
That's been my downfall for a few years now.
Fun at the time, but that way lies ruin

Big list
Sigh. Weather looks shit for Xmas day.

I'm in Essex and looks like rain for Christmas and Boxing Day ,
Should be perfect for this XC race -https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/colchester-friday-woods-runners-vs-riders-boxing-day-2021-tickets-229082029517 -

Nike have some half price Alphaflys on sale right now - if you wanted to give them a go £134 is the cheapest I’ve seen them.
-
• #26899
I've bought some AFs to try.
All the other cheat shoes I've bought have ended up going back. Endorphin Pro, Adios Pro 2 haven't felt right on my weird feet. I've got a feeling these will be the same.
I'm going to try some Takumi Sen 8s when I get a chance

The Alphaflys look pretty rank. I'm going to look one hell of a twat doing 8 minute miles in them
Csb: I went to school with Laura, same year group
