I've driving around briefly in FH5 just to test performance.

The 3080Ti is nuts.

Epic settings for everything, no resolution scaling etc. 5120x1440 runs at a locked 60 with around 50% GPU utilisation and, unlocked, runs around 90 with vsync at 97% GPU utilisation.

Running 5120x1440 at 120 is bonkers fun.

I'm not sure I have anything that goes up to 144.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Where the fuck is my storage?

So the only weakness of the new PC is storage size. It’s got 1TB which is already pretty much full now I’ve got 6 or 7 racing games on there.

No worries, I can stick an ssd in. There’s an empty m.2 slot on the front and two tool less sata bays on the back.

Couple of questions:

1. How do I find out what gen my m.2 slot is?
   
2. Where the fuck is the 1TB currently in the system? Genuinely can’t find it anywhere on the board…

Also, after years and years on console gaming, I’m immediately reminded why I hate PCs.

Under here (or something similar looking) would be my guess. Find out your motherboard model, google it and find the manual and specs.

Your motherboard m.2 gen may be different to what the processor supports so worth checking that too (although probably OK if it's all high end).

That’s the empty slot mentioned in my post. Took the heat sink off and there’s nothing under there…

FH5 is 150gb. Dirt Rally 2.0 is 120gb etc etc

They’re only getting bigger with the increase in texture quality.

I used to run have some Nvidea software on an old PC which could override the windows display settings. Useful when remoting in with different monitors, which is what I'm going to be doing soon using a couple of those ghost displayport emulators to trick the server in to thinking there's 3 displays attached and bring the monitors home with me.

I can't see this option in my current Nvidea control panel. Does anyone know if it's a different bit of software?

Are you opening the Nvidia control panel or GeForce Experience; the former should be able to do what you're asking

Control Panel yeah, I only seem to have a few controls. Probably not an issue actually as I rememebered that resolution settings are controlled by the client device.

my old go to for multiple monitor stuff was ultramon but not sure it's being supported anymore.

Found some DDR5! Many £££, but fuck it.

Also ordered new MB and a bunch of stuff to refresh my watercooling. If everything shows up tomorrow I'll have a very happy (isolated) xmas.
