Had my negative covid test after 48 hours isolating since getting to France so popped to the supermarket to get supplies. Disappointingly Auchan only had Christmas versions of kronenbourg and grimbergen. The kronenbourg basically tastes like kronenbourg with some Christmas syrup in it. Tbf still enjoyable as I'm on holiday and not at home.

The Verdant x Beak collaboration is a nicer beer. Although not stand out like some of their respective beers

Snaffled a small local breweries collection to get me through the present wrapping. Some good stuff - Neepsend American pale is v tasty - but the tiramisu stout is a total duff. Strangely looking forward to the bitter.

Northern Monk Festive Star is delicious.
Vanilla, Cinnamon & Chocolate porter (normal strength, 5.x%)
Like a cake in a glass. Wish I'd picked up more than 2
.
(I am a few beers in and might have a different opinion tomorrow) -

It's excellent, close to the 12 and not a spice bomb like most Belgian Christmas beers.

It's decent enough and sub 5%. I didn't fancy a 12%er after all today.

^^ +1 my favourite of the Xmas ales this year. I have another bottle which I'm probably going to stash for 12 months now.
Yeah I thought it was ok but not not the heady heights of what I had expected - at least it wasn’t too spenny
