From what I've read introducing a puppy to children is easier than the other way round. If a kid doesn't like the dog as long as they're not scared of it it's not really a problem but if the dog doesn't like the kid then that's a pretty big problem. Both involve sleepless nights and poo in the early stages if your ready for that all over again. And at your kids age they'll become part of the family very quickly. Our family wouldn't be complete without a dog in it but i grew up around them since I was a baby so i would naturally say go for it dogs are awesome but it is a similar level of commitment to having another child and sometimes even more of a bind.
Congratulations! We have two pet humans, aged 3 and 6, and a really want a dog. Reading this thread regularly makes me wonder if we’re ready for the commitment. Let us know how it goes.
