This is probably another overly expensive 'gas-pipe' bike, but I think it's something I'd like to gravel on

I be happy with that, especially when the bigger tyres help compensate for the steel fork.

I've no idea how stiff that particular steel fork might be

As usual it's irrelevant, as the XL is not very X :'(
