The in-app or on-website payment system could indeed be exclusively Bancontact. If you're not from Belgium, the best thing to do would be to arrange someting with the seller, without using the 2ehands payment or shipping features.
It's suboptimal since it requires trust on the side of both parties (that the buyer pays, and that the seller sends the parcel).

From everything I can see it's bancontact only. Seller has said PayPal is OK so will hopefully work out OK as a private sale. Bit of a mad system, must be quite a banking monopoly over there.

All worked out well in the end with a private sale. I feel like I've got more of a handle on the Dutch language with the excessive use of Google translate and scribing screenshots.

Does anyone know what sort of payment method works through 2dehands.be ? I've been trying to pay someone with my credit card and it doesn't seem to work. Bancontact seem to be the bank and app that is linked to the website, do you need a bancontact bank card/account?
