If you are actually thinking of getting the full licence, you can probably book the CBT, training and tests in one block once you've got the theory - it's worth noting that unlike with a car you can't just tootle around on a provisional/L plates with a mate who's already done it, you have to be accompanied by a qualified instructor in radio contact.

I thought you need the CBT first, but worth checking. Could just be that's what I did so I could get on a bike ASAP.

Mod 2Theory in particular is what often holds things up as you can't book Mod1/2 until you've passed.
