  • I don’t know - I’ve not had it diagnosed, it’s persistent but it’s fairly mild. Mild enough that I can ignore it / not actively notice it a lot of the time while I’m doing stuff.

  • There is currently some umming and ahhhing about back office/non patient facing NHS staff currently not being included in the vaccine requirement. I might work in finance and working from home but if I was in the office I’d be sharing social spaces/ canteen and meeting with clinical staff so why the hell should I be putting them at risk? I think even external engineers and contractors working on medical equipment are subject to the mandate as they work in clinical spaces.

  • Front page news
    https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/omicron-five-times-more-likely-reinfect-than-delta-study-says-2021-12-17/

Important to note that the authors admit that we don’t yet have sufficient data to get the full picture of omicron. It’s definitely looking to be more easily spread than Delta, and there’s no reason to believe it’s less pathological. Big spoiler is that 2x vaccine doses offer pretty low protection…

  • The headline seems to be suggesting Omicron is more likely to reinfect people who have had Omicron (than Delta is to reinfect people who have had Delta), but I guess what the study actually showed is that, if you have had Delta, you are five times more likely to get Omicron than to get Delta again, right?

  • Well. Let's see.

We haven't had the Grinch (Van Tam) out yet?

Wednesday and Friday will be truth markers for me.

  • My wife has had shivers last 2 nights due to pfizer booster.

I got full virus body aches, freezing and sweats the night after my Pfizer booster. Was convinced* I’d caught Covid in the walk-in centre, but did a string of LFTs afterwards and they’ve all been negative. It’s worth doing some repeat testing at home for peace of mind.

*Doesn’t help that I’ve had a recurring cold and a cough for about 4-5 weeks, so I’ve been testing a couple of times a week anyway.

  • I've just had a chat with the staff at my local Sainsbury's. They're pretty badly hit with staff sickness and isolating etc, to the point where they shouldn't really be open with their staffing level. And at work, we've had to close some provision, as too many people were off.

On the basis of where the numbers are at the moment, does anybody know the point/numbers where by we're essentially in a country/London lockdown anyway, because so many people are self isolating or off sick?

  • Not sure.

I was responding to the question on whether the vaccines can make you show positive on a test rather than whether the vaccines can make you feel shit.

The hedges were both boosted last week and both felt rough to different extents.

  • I don’t know - I’ve not had it diagnosed, it’s persistent but it’s fairly mild. Mild enough that I can ignore it / not actively notice it a lot of the time while I’m doing stuff.

Get it checked out. From my understanding, steroidal injections are pretty effective at treating inflammation based tinnitus.

  • No LFT won't show the booster.
I've been pretty ill following Moderna booster too :/

  • We haven't had the Grinch (Van Tam) out yet?

He is busy filming the R.I. Christmas Lectures

  • Thanks - I was negative. Think it’s just a cold piled on top of the booster sideys. Grim.

  • i got tinnitus out of the blue in the first covid summer before any vaccinations but no idea if it was covid related (didn’t have any obvious symptoms) though the doctor had a look and i had glue ear, which is odd as i never had that as a kid, that cleared up after a few months, was very odd tilting your head then having your eardrum tickled as the fluid moved around, but the ringing remained.
had a zoe study antibody test recently which was negative but that only states a 6 month previous detection window for covid.
    so who knows...

  • Thanks, I will.

  • ^ similar protest ATM in Belfast city centre.

At least it's outdoors, so transmission risk is lowish.

  • Times reporting more restrictions on there way:

  • moderna booster fucked me up too, i didnt even take paracetamol when i had covid but had to after booster

  • Actually I’ve had tinnitus and some of my fingernails looked like my fingers had been slammed in a door back in Sep which I can now see may also be a COVID symptom.
I’d had a plethora of negative tests off all types to go on a holiday to Spain and had been double jabbed since June and had no symptoms of anything at all.

  • Lockdown in the Netherlands from now to January 14.

Schools, restaurants, pubs non essential shops closed and no spectators allowed at sports events / training.

I guess NI will also have a circuit breaker / mini lockdown if England is doing one. We have had COVID passports for a while but cases here and in ROI are highish*, omicron won't help.

*Don't know why... more socialising? Lower vaccination rate doesn't apply to ROI.

  • The anti vax protest was threatening the Apple store and throwing eggs on Regents Street but left the Microsoft store a few doors down alone. Come on guys, stay on message at least.

  • Cntrl C vs Cmnd C you can’t blame em

  • Maybe they'd already egged the Windows at the Apple store

  • Just when you thought you’d seen it all
