  • Well in my case, I had a severe reaction to the 2nd AZ jab that has caused blindness in my right eye and a semi-serious neurological condition. It has fucked my life up, but I'm not anti-vaccine, by any means.

So if/when I'm healthy enough, I'll have to decide whether to take a booster or not. Between my GP, my opthalmologist, and my neurologist, whose opinion should I trust? They've all had differing opinions on courses of treatment so far.

All this to say, the definition of choice is blurry (for me anyway).

That is fucking awful. I hope you find out wtaf happened! Ideally, they'd know so other people don't have to experience that.

  • Thanks man, I've been hesitant to share my experience. It was initially suspected to be MS, so vaccine side effect seemed like a blessing.

There were a lot of problems with that 2nd AZ batch, so it's not surprising it's disappeared as an option.

  • That sounds awful - hope you are doing ok and getting support. Hearing that has really thrown me, somehow more than the risk of heart problems etc.

There were a lot of problems with that 2nd AZ batch

    there were?!

  • I'll try and find the document published by the NHS but by November there had been 4k+ reports of side effects, including a lot of eye and ear issues (particularly tinnitus).

  • @Regal ? Saw that you had this in the guitar thread attributed to long covid, wondered if any chance you had the AZ jab?

  • Imagine calling people in your family dickheads for not getting the vaccine only to end up suffering a serious side effect that you have to hide from everyone.

I bet you'd feel like a real fuckin asshole.

  • I have tinnitus that appeared after having covid 12 months ago and it hasn't gone away. It gets worse when I'm tired (which is quite often with the LoCo). But it's been there since long before I was vaccinated. I had AZ for jabs 1 & 2 but I didn't receive the first one until the end of April.

  • That's not doubling.

The Omicron variation have doubled, the total is all the variation.

  • I thought it was the 'dominant' variant now?

  • Numbers feel slightly less bad than they could be. Anecdata suggests way more people (that I know) have it now than at any point so far. Unsure how many of those I know have done positive pcrs yet, but lots of lfts that won't be in the official numbers.

  • First toke on some Orient Gene's tonight. There's nothing I can see to say so, but I assume with these you don't need to worry about no food/drink 30 mins before, as not swabbing tonsils?

  • I've had tinnitus for a while, though I only remember that I have it and hear it when I hear someone or read someone mention it...

    Brains are crazy things...

  • Oh no that sucks :(

Vaccine side-effects are rare, but they are real. Guillain-Barre syndrome is one.

Hope they can figure out a treatment plan.

With the blood clots they are now thinking the monkey virus they used to build the vaccine sets off the immune system in some people. But even knowing that, how do you calm it down again?

  • I thought it was the 'dominant' variant now?

It’s not, it’s the dominant variant in area like London.

New analysis has revealed that cases of the Omicron variant are doubling every one and a half days in some areas of England, including London, the West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside and the north east.

  • Apparently dominant in Scotland now as well.

I guess we should expect a double to 200k by Monday.

    Let's check back on this.

  • Maybe we won't see it double. Seems like a lot of people are cancelling socials this weekend despite government advice, plus WFH last few days and schools finishing term.

  • Interesting that "SPI-M has been unable to produce
consensus medium-term projections for hospital admissions and
    deaths this week."

SA data continues to look mild

  • Chapeau to those that cancelled the anti vaxxer

  • I never got an answer from them myself, but can you think of a valid reason someone would become a member of this London-based cycling forum and post on nothing but the covid thread?

  • It’s that charming wit and repartee they will miss round the table this Christmas.

  • that's the second time you've made an entirely unfunny comment about my circumstances that stemmed from me referring in a previous post to the fact that my mother and both brothers are presently experiencing severe health crises. you might think it's a fucking lolfest but i certainly don't. also - before you get all "it's just a joke, brah" - you don't know me well enough to presume you can make light of anything concerning me or anyone i care about.

do you understand? because it's important that you do.

check yourself, you tiresome fucking cunt.

  • After my thoughtful and engaging questions they sent me a pm. Obv anti vax, but not sure they were just trolling. I find it interesting to talk to people who (genuinely) have these views and work out how they have come to them.
It could become a problem long term if the anti covid-vax spills over to MMR, polio, smallpox etc
